First Sunday at Church

Two Sundays ago was Ellie's first time at church. I couldn't believe how long it took to just get the two of us and her ready to go. I am so amazed that anyone with kids gets anywhere on time. We had a fun time dressing her up though. However, no one really saw her dressed up because she was asleep in her car seat with a blanket covering her the entire time. John and I were so exhausted by the effort of taking her there, that we came home and took a 2 hour nap!

Ellie' s expression in this picture is pretty cool.

Her tights and shoes were a little on the big side.

Taking her home

She looks so little in her car seat.

Her first day home.

Our first family picture

I feel bad that I covered her face up with my hand. I look pretty sleepy which is a total plug for epidurals. I slept and watched Enchanted while I was dilating from a 5 to a 10. We had to pause the movie to actually have the baby as the characters were trying to figure out that love's true kiss was the most powerful thing in the world to revive Jezelle. :) That movie will never seem the same.

Our precious little girl

Little Ellie was born a couple of weeks ago. She was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19.5 inches long. Her birth went smoothly, which we are all very grateful for. She is doing wonderful. She eats and sleeps well and is gaining weight. John and I both think we are going to have a chubby little baby. It is amazing to me how much we love her already.

Snobs

John suggested that I let you all in on our dirty secret of being snobs, at least in one regard. Despite the fact that significant amounts of our baby's things are second hand and we hardly ever buy anything that is name brand, we have discovered that only the best will do when it comes to our ranch dressing. In our opinion, Hidden Valley Original Ranch is the only way to have ranch dressing. We feel picked on if we have to have fat free or any other brand. Hidden Valley should pay us for our testimonials on advertisements for them, don't you think? :)

Is it nesting...or HGTV???

Some friends of ours gave us an idea of what to do with the beautiful cinder block walls in our apartment. There are only two cinder block walls, one our bedroom and one in the baby's. We decided to follow their advice and use starch and fabric to cover the walls. Green in our room, yellow in the baby's. Also, she gets a little star boarder for her's as well. For anyone that might try this, be sure to use a wallpaper brush to get it to stick. Just using your hand to get it to stick ends up being 5x the amount of work.
We also got the bug to do some home improvement by painting a dresser and bookcase. This turned out to be a lot more work than we originally thought. Mostly we just weren't anticipating the sanding taking so long and it needing primer plus three coats of paint. Anyway, we were very proud of ours selves. Just for the record this is definitely a result of watching HGTV and not nesting. Spending the entire day cleaning our apartment today though...

The tummy

It is slowly taking over more and more of my body. 4 weeks to go!!!
