Happy Father's Day

I know this is so late, but better late than never. I just love watching these two interact. I am so blessed to have a husband that is so wonderful to our little girl. No one can make Ellie laugh like John does. Somewhat ironically, she also settles down the best for him before bed or nap time. I love you, John, and so does Ellie!!!

Goblin Valley

We decided to go camping to Goblin Valley last week. We camped on BLM land on Thursday evening and then spent the day hiking on Friday and drove home Friday night. It was plenty of fun. The pictures below were taken on said trip to Goblin Valley.

This is a great shot of our campground. Like our tent? It is our new one. It is quite large, and we comfortably fit two queen air mattresses in it. Lynette came as well, and she is in the background of this shot, taking care of important camp-related business.
Ellie was less happy than we were about being there, although she did quite good, all things considered. The pink spot on Ellie's forehead is a gnat bite. The gnats were apparently having a Biting Techniques Convention while we were there. Ellie was the test subject for their demonstrations. We counted 15 bites on her head at the end of the trip and chances are we missed one or two. Kylee got a gnat in her ear and it happily resided there, buzzing occasionally, for an hour or so until a Q-tip was located. The Q-tip provided a demonstration to the gnats for their "Why crawling in someones ear can result in catastrophic exoskeleton destruction" section.
Daddy got to carry the little one around when we were hiking. We had a good time hanging out with the goblins.

Grandma also had a fun trip.

This was a fun cave we found.
It was pretty big when we got up close.
Some light in the back corner revealed another chamber to the cave.
Here we are in the back of the cave. There were some small holes above us letting in some light.
This cave was right above the first one, but was separate.

We put Ellie in a few precarious positions for the sake of getting some good photos.

Ellie decided she needed a nap later in the afternoon, and fell asleep holding her precious fork. The nap only lasted about 10 minutes, but was appreciated.

All in all, we recommend Goblin Valley to people. It looks cool in pictures, but is much more fun to hike through. Important tip: bring more water than you think you will need. We wished we had more.
