Holland's 9th Birthday

Oh our sweet Holland. How we love you! You turned nine years old. We can't believe our little sunshine girl is growing up so fast. You picked out the cutest romper to be your birthday outfit. I took you to Ross to find something to be your birthday outfit, and you picked out what you liked. But then you had to narrow it down. I think your initial number of things you liked was close to 20. After much deliberation and fretting you chose this blue and white polka dot romper, and it is darling. You also insisted I try on a number of gowns that would be fit for a gala. I couldn't quite pull them off, but it was still so fun to go shopping with you.
We ended up taking your birthday photos at Aunt Miriam and Uncle Marc's house, which was so fun/dusty. You were a good sport about it, even though you had to climb all in the grass and weeds. They turned out lovely mostly because you are lovely.
At your nine year old check up you were 48.7 inches tall which is the 6th percentile. You weighted 48.72 lbs which is the 3rd percentile. That put your BMI at 13%. You are still pretty tiny, but strong and healthy and awesome. We're so lucky that you have a healthy body that is just perfect for you.
Holland, being nine has been kind of a turning point for you. I am blown away with how mature you have become this year. You have more control over how you show your emotions. You have demonstrated tons more self control in how you handle your chores and daily tasks. This has not been easy or effortless. This is something you have been working toward for years. I am thrilled for you that all of your struggle and perseverance has been paying off. I am so proud of you--not just for reaching these milestones, but for not giving up and working through the struggle.
You are in the CAS program at school which means that your class moves at a much fast pace than other fourth grade classes. Just this morning you were telling me how on Fridays, you are in a special group that does 8th grade math. What?? That's amazing!

Easter 2020

We love Easter, even when it is pretty low key like it was this year. We had a visitor from our friendly neighborhood Easter bunny that morning. I am also a little surprised how much I enjoy decorating Easter eggs. They turn out so pretty.

Baby bump at 30 weeks. Three and 3/4 baby girls.

Kiddo egg hunt outside. Good thing I thought ahead and ended up getting just a few things a month and half or so before when all the cute stuff was out at the Target dollar spot. We also ordered some Easter candy for Target pick up. That is how we have been doing a lot of our shopping. Ordering on the app or off of Amazon, then picking it up or getting it delivered. Except Home Depot, we go there all the time in person.

Holland found the magical fairy egg of course. :) We love having a little backyard, even if it is just the size of a postage stamp.

Hunting, hunting...some are hidden harder than others.

Too much candy and goodies! After the kids' hunt, we were treated to an adult hunt put on by the kids. They did a creative twist on it this year and ended up making a treasure hunt for us to follow. There were little rhyming clues that led us around the house. The clues were in eggs along with a little piece of candy. At the end of the treasure hunt there was more candy and a little note. It was pretty cute and creative.

After egg hunts we made a delicious dinner complete with resurrection rolls. Turns out the kids love homemade rolls especially with melted marshmallows in them. The older girls helped get the dough ready and form the balls with the marshmallows inside. Holland was much more interested in being the one to dispense marshmallows. :)

For our main dish we had Cinnamon and Chili Pork Tenderloin with Fresh Apple Salsa. It was delightful.
That night the kids had a special date night with Daddy that lasted the whole night. We set up the tent outside because the weather was still lovely.
Isn't it cute with the beach chairs out there? I didn't join the party because I am pregnant and uncomfortable, and I don't like to sleep anywhere except my comfy bed unless I absolutely have to.
They were so cute. Daddy was a trooper to forgo his comfy bed to make some fun memories with his girls. What a happy Easter day!
