The Last Few Weeks

I can't skip blogging about our Independence Day weekend.   It started out with our first trip to Stadium of Fire.  It was kind of a last minute decision, and, despite the horrific traffic trying to get home, was awesome!

We saw Brad Paisley. So fun!!

The fireworks after the concert were stunning.

Sunday night we had a nice family dinner and saw John's sister who was in town from Japan.  We love family, and to prove it we baked 76 rolls for the dinner, half of them whole wheat, in three different shapes (normal, crescent, and clover).

Monday morning we went to the Provo City Parade.  Ellie was scared of the loud noises.  Baby M didn't care, since she was still in the womb.

One highlight was the big balloons.

And of course, the 'horsies.'

Also, the parade featured the Provo missionaries, Coach Dave Rose, President Samuelson, and other less notable public officials, such as the governor, U.S. senators, etc....

Check out this cute picture of Ellie.  I never get her to smile AND look at the camera.

One final pregnancy picture, taken on Inducement Day.

We have already blogged about the birth of the baby, and since then life has been a little crazier, with quite a bit more time focused on trying to sleep.  See, here is the tired daddy.

Here are a few shots of our five day old baby.

But here is what we actually see most of the time.

And you may ask, "What is Ellie doing during all of this?"  Mostly just playing in M's carseat. Really.

The New Baby!

Baby M joined us this past week. We sure love her! It was pretty nice to be induced this time. We arrived at the hospital at around 3:45 pm instead of 2 am. The epidural was in place before any serious contractions started.
We expected her to be just like Ellie, but their personalities are quite different. M is much more demanding, and enjoys eating significantly more than Ellie did. Her cry is higher pitched too. Right now she likes to eat every 3 to 4 hours during daylight hours and about every 2 hours at night. We are hoping that reverses soon. Very soon. We love her anyway!

She was almost the same size as her big sister, just 3 more ounces (at 7 lbs even) and the same length (19.5 in). However, after a few days, she is only about 3 ounces below her birth weight instead of 10 to 12 like her less hungry sister.

We think she looks a lot like Ellie, but it is kind of weird for us to have a baby with dark hair and dark eyes.

Here is a comparison of the two babies. I am sure you can guess which is which.
